Muse: The 2nd Law Album Artwork

I created these images as part of the grant proposal for the Human Connectome Project, a joint effort between the Lab of Neuro Imaging at UCLA and Harvard MGH.  The images were created by processing DSI data through Diffusion Toolkit to create track files, and then taking the track files into TrackVis for visualization. Once in TrackVis I used several dozen additive and reductive ROI objects to sculpt the mass of tracks until I arrived at shapes that I felt had enough character to exist simultaneously as scientific data and as pieces of art. The band Muse licensed several of these pieces for use as part of the visual package for their album The 2nd Law, and these images can be seen on the album cover, inside the cd/lp insert, on promotional material and projected live at their concerts.
